 GREAT IDEAS

How do I make my flag? (Template)

There are a number of ways to make your flag however there are two methods below. The important points to remember are:-

  • It is to be the same size and shape as the template on the reverse.
  • It is to be made of fabric (embellishments can be made of other materials)
  • It is to be stitched (not glued) so that it will last for years to come.

Method One

Cut two pieces of fabric; the piece for the front of the flag and the backing material larger than the template on the reverse to allow for a seam.

Once you have finished your flag design, put your fabric together right sides facing and stich down the two long sides.

Turn your flag the right way round.

Method Two

Using pinking shears cut two pieces of fabric; the piece for the front of the flag and the backing material .

Once you have finished your flag design put your fabric together wrong sides facing and stich down the two long sides.

Top of flag

Don’t worry about finishing off the top of the flag as this can be done when all the flags are being stitched together by our local bunting team.
